Hydrogen for Life: An event concept to
put the UK on the hydrogen map
The challenge:
Curating and promoting Hydrogen for Life (H4Life), the UK’s largest independent event focused on hydrogen technology, including managing stakeholders, speakers and attendees.
Our approach:
Our brief was to facilitate focused networking and open, honest discussion on the future of hydrogen in the UK by bringing together experts, policymakers and stakeholders from multiple sectors, including NGOs, government, academia, finance and industry.
The two-day event at London’s Science Museum was hosted by broadcaster Adam Boulton and attended by Bosch CEO Carl Arntzen, UK Hydrogen Energy Association CEO Celia Greaves and Senior Hydrogen Strategy Adviser Cameron Davies. Forty-five high-profile speakers included Dr. Katy Milne, Hydrogen Innovation Initiative Programme Director and Alexander Stafford MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hydrogen.
The event also showcased hydrogen technology including the hydrogen-powered HYDRate Café and a hydrogen bus, while the REIMAGINE contest engaged schoolchildren and the Hydrogen for Life Awards honoured exceptional hydrogen energy achievements.
Impact:
H4Life 2023 welcomed 480+ attendees, up from around 400 in 2022, with 502 app downloads, an average attendee rating of 4.5/5 and thousands of LinkedIn engagements. Moreover, we connected multiple disparate sectors and groups to form a focused community, establishing H4Life as the hub for the UK’s hydrogen conversation.
What they said:
“HN Communications was an essential agency in building up the concept for Hydrogen for Life. We started to work together a long time ago, but Hydrogen for Life was a project we did together jointly. Our relationship with HN Communications, and the CEO Helen, isn’t a normal relationship – it was actually a partner relationship; working together to deliver things that are out of the box, and not usual – like Hydrogen for Life, and like other activities I did before such as events and roundtables, which were instrumental in showing the way Helen thinks.”
